Could an open campus help with how KAC students act in school and in their lives?

An “open campus” is a school where students are allowed to leave during lunchtime to eat at home or at nearby restaurants. This break from campus can help relieve students’ mind of from the stress from school.

But schools with open campuses might also help better teach students to have a sense of responsibility. For example, students being allowed to leave for open campus helps increase the trust level between students and teachers. In addition, students need an open campus lunch policy to give them the freedom they deserve.

Many could argue that an open campus creates drama and destruction, but more can good come from the policy than bad. High school students sit in class all day, isolated in a confined space and I think we all need a break from school. With an open campus, we could clear our heads so we can be in the best frame of mind to continue learning in 5th period. We could have the opportunities to do different things during that free time, and most students would enjoy eating something they like eating during lunch. For instance, students love going out to eat fast food and I think it’s something good that will keep us active and have more energy and feel happy to come back to school and be ready to start class.

Another thing is we could enjoy going out with other classmates and being able to have liberty during lunch because I feel like we are locked in in school where students have no energy, feel sleepy, and don’t feel like doing work without eating something they enjoy during lunch.

In other words, good food that we enjoy will make us feel stronger and have the energy to start class in a positive and successful way.
