As graduation season comes upon us, the class of 2022 prepares for the next chapter of their lives. They’ve faced trials and tribulations all throughout high school, especially through online school. As a class, they’ve grown and set an example for the classes below them. Francisco Morales, a senior, reflects back on his high school years and leaves us with some words of advice.
Valeria Velasco: If you could change anything about your highschool experience, what would it be?
Francisco Morales: I would change my inability to take a risk. I feel like I missed out on so much this year just because I wasn’t brave enough to take a jump because of the slight chance it’d be hard or I’d fail.
VV: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
FM: In 10 years I see myself living in my own house with a girlfriend and a stable job bringing in 6 figures. I want to be working a job I enjoy and that doesn’t take over my whole life. I also want to stay close to my family and continue to support them with my extra income.
VV: What piece of advice would you give to freshmen?
FM: I’d tell freshmen that honestly, you should put in that little extra effort to make sure you pass all your classes with the highest grade you can. If you don’t take your grades seriously, you won’t be able to get your whole college paid for. College debt is not fun
VV: What is your greatest accomplishment during high school?
FM: My greatest accomplishment senior year was getting a full ride to Pomona for computer science without having to jeopardize my health or relationships.
VV: What is something you learned in highschool that you want to take with you to the real world?
FM: I learned that I shouldn’t trip about what others say. It doesn’t change my goals so I just gotta keep going ‘till I’m satisfied with myself.
