The dim lights and the side conversations that populate the classroom are just enough to you to get in the mood to join. The Lego Club, which is open to anyone, is an amazing group to join during lunch: A place that you could enter and forget about everything going on and start building your own Lego structure.

The club meets in the classroom of social studies teacher Benjamin Breault. The club starts by Breault giving students a theme. Students then have to get into groups and build a structure related to that theme over multiple meetings. At the end of their project Breault chooses who built the best structure, and that group wins bragging rights.

One club member said, “The vibe in the room is really chill. Of course there were some times where it has been stressful because of due dates, but overall it has been a chill room and even if it’s not a day to meet in the club, in the room you can see lots of people meeting in the room and having lunch, building on to their structure.”

Another member said, “Of course the first week was kind of stressful working with all the new members but they have calmed down.” They said that they first heard of the Lego Club from senior Daniel Botello, who helps run the club. Since they are interested in engineering they believe that a bit of hands-on learning would be good to get a bit of building experience. Another student stated they joined the Lego Club because they are interested in Architecture as their major and believe that the Lego Club could help them build on their creativity on doing projects and landscaping. The first time they walked into the Lego Club, they said, it was a bit odd seeing many students in one room–and at moments it felt overwhelming and annoying–but they gave it a try, and overall they are enjoying the club.
