ACL is a festival here in Austin that is always held annually and it has always been in ZIlker Park, and in which you can attend two different weekends. There are so many things included like different food vendors and also music to enjoy. Many artists come and perform. The Cardinal Post interviewed Rosa Munoz, Junior Seminar Teacher, to ask her about her ACL Festival experience.

Tell us a little bit about yourself to provide context to those students who don’t already know you.

Rosa Munoz: Hello my name is Rosa Munoz and I am one of the Junior Seminar Teachers. And it is my sixth year teaching, when I was in college I had first heard of ACL but because I was a student in college I wasn’t able to afford tickets to go. Fast forward years later I am now an adult with a job and I am now able to get tickets to the ACL Festival. This was now my third time attending the ACL Festival.

What weekend did you attend the ACL Festival?

RM: In October I attended the ACL Festival I ended up going on weekend two, because the first weekend was sold out

What tickets did you get? Were there any perks?

RM: I got the three day wristband and I paid 300 dollars for it, there were not many perks with my wristband but since many artist attend the festival it was a good price because I know that if I were to go to other artist concerts there tickets would be super expensive depending on the seats you want, so in a way it’s an advantage because you get too see many artist for that price.

Who was your favorite artist you got to see?

RM: My top two favorite artists I got to see were Paramore and SZA. When Paramore started playing I was going crazy as they were playing “Misery Business” I knew word for word and such good vibes, some other artists like Omar Apollo were there too. I had originally heard of him through TikTok and I knew he was famous there and listening to him live I was like okay he’s not so bad.

What was your favorite part of the whole festival?

RM: Just enjoying the moment where everyone is out there enjoying the music. One thing I liked as well was the T-Mobile lounge which is only for people that have T-Mobile you can chill there and they offer drinks that you can buy and they are way more cold, and they also have really nice restrooms and it is most definitely a big perk because the other restrooms are porta potties and they are gross, adding on they also have a big screen where you can see the artist that are currently on stage.

Who is one artist/band you would want to see that hasn’t been to the ACL Festival yet?

RM: One artist I would love to see there even though I have already seen him is obviously Bad Bunny. It would be cool to see how many people he attracts. I feel like tickets would most definitely be sold out in my opinion.

What is something you didn’t like about the festival?

RM: I hate the restrooms they get so nasty and then having to wait in line to go, and sometimes people do get bunched up when there are big artists playing and it’s the only thing I hate about the festival in general but over all the ACL Festival was a very well thought out festival because it doesn’t feel as hectic as other festivals that I have heard of, I liked how they have so many water stands in there as well as medical tents laid out because people do pass out , and I would totally recommend going if you have never gone it’s such a fun experience.
