Senior Iker Delgado is one of the lucky few who will study abroad in London and Spain starting next fall as part of the Verto Education Program. As one of his dreams is to travel the world and meet new places, he thinks it’s an excellent opportunity for him to expose himself to new environments, make new friends and connections around the world, and grow as a person by learning new cultures and languages.

He will be studying in London for his 1st semester. Then he will transfer to study in Spain for his second semester. This is a yearly program and he had other choices in England, the Czech Republic, Argentina, Spain, and Costa Rica. This opportunity came up when senior college counselor Ingrid Fragoso introduced Iker to the program, which connects with universities in the U.S. and allows college freshmen to spend their first year abroad. At the moment Iker is debating whether to continue his education at Lycoming University or Loyola University New Orleans when he returns from Europe.

London’s room and board tuition are about $29,000 for one semester, but the price varies based on location.

Iker’s dad took the news that his son would be out of the country well because he has lived in London for a year and he wants his son as well to go experience living in London. He wants his son to travel the world as well and grow as a person. But on the other hand, it took a while for his mother to adjust to the idea of him studying away from home for a year. Once he is done studying abroad for a year his mom wants him to learn here in the U.S. But even though his parents have different opinions on his decisions they have put them aside and are supporting their son on his journey, as Iker is very excited to go out and learn in London for a year and gain new experiences.
