It’s not everyday that you hear of somebody that is able to play over 5 instruments before they are an adult, however, KAC 11th-grader Angel Carrizales has fulfilled this challenging accomplishment.
Carrizales is very experienced in the musical arts. He plays 5 instruments and takes multiple music classes including Guitar and Steel Drums.
Carrizales started when he was just 5 playing on music apps on a tablet. At first he just played music as a hobby for fun, but a few years ago he realized that it was his passion and he had major potential. He feels like music is what he was made to do. He performs during school concerts and sometimes he will do small gigs for payment. He often receives praise for his musical talent when he plays and he enjoys and embraces it and tries to to show out to give people the best performance possible.
Carrizales says that guitar is his favorite instrument; he really enjoys playing it and all of its variations. His favorite genres of music are alternative rock, classical, and lyrical rap. For Angel though, it doesn’t just stop at playing instruments. He has written multiple songs in different genres and is even working on composing his own sheet music. Some of his inspirations for these music pieces include: rappers J.Cole, Logic, and Kendrick Lamar, rock bands Pierce the Veil, Flyleaf and Sleeping with Sirens, and electronic artists, Panda Eyes, Spag Heddy, and Wubbaduck.
After high school Angel plans to make a career out of music. He’s already eyeing colleges such as VanderCook College of Music, in Chicago, and Angelo State to pursue a music major. Some colleges have already reached out to him.
For his musical pieces Carrizales goes by the stage name “KT907”. “KT” stands for “King Tenshi” which means “King Angel” in Japanese. And “907” stands for his date of birth, September 7th. He says that 9/07 also signifies the date that an Angel was born.
Although none of his pieces are currently available to the public, he does hint about dropping a project on his YouTube channel (KT907) in September, possibly even on his birthday.
