Albums come out everyday with each having different genres and popularity. While some thrive in the music industry and are loved by many, some are underappreciated and deserve more exposure. Now, we will talk about a famously loved overrated album and an album that deserves recognition.

Today’s overrated pick is Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti” a reggaeton; cumbia; indie pop album that came out May 6, 2022. This album provides sentimental, up-beat music and good vibes. Bad Bunny’s Album was the top album of 2022, with 4.2 billion streams and 3.4 million album consumption. While listening to the album, we had high expectations because of the audience rating, which was pretty high. It was definitely a fun listen but we kind of expected more. We know this is a pretty big achievement for a poc artist and it was actually pretty shocking to see him gain a lot of success. The album got worldwide recognition because of its different mix of genres and vibes. Among all the songs we listened to, our personal favorite was ‘’Otro Atardecer” (feat. The Marias). We chose this for overrated because it’s super popular and it definitely has gotten more attention than people expected. However, it is still a very good, enjoyable album that we recommend everyone listen to.

For our underrated pick we chose DPR Live’s “Is Anybody Out There?” a rap/hip-hop and KRNB (Korean Rhythm and Blues) album that made its release March 3, 2020. The album also provides a sentimental as well as an up-beat rhythm. DPR has 1.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify, which in our opinion, should be higher. As we played the album, we enjoyed many of the songs and found our favorite,”Kiss Me” which is also the most popular song from the album. We really liked listening to it because we felt that it was relatable and was a very good choice to listen to because of its calm vibes. This is the type of album you listen to when going for a drive, either with friends or by yourself. “Is Anybody Out There?” definitely deserves more attention and love.

Listening to both of these albums was a super fun experience and we can’t wait for the future albums that these artists and others give us. We hope they both continue to gain success and appreciation. Both of these albums cater to different audiences but if you’re not the audience they cater to, you should still give it a listen.
