Iconic Home Slice Pizza Doesn’t Disappoint

If you’re constantly going out to the same food place with friends, family, or a significant other and trying to find a new place, Home Slice Pizza is the spot. Their goal is to give ATX a taste of what NY pizza was filled with.  

This restaurant was created by three friends, Jen and Joseph Stickland, who are married, and their partner, Terri Hannifin Buis. They opened their first restaurant in 2005, then in 2010, and finally opened up here in Austin in 2018. When my boyfriend and I first entered the restaurant, we were greeted by the host. She proceeded to ask if we were new, and we said yes. She then says that we won’t be disappointed after we are done, which is what we hoped. I was amazed by how vintage and out-of-the-ordinary this place looked, but I was even more shocked after looking at the menu and noticing how much this restaurant really offered. Not anywhere have I seen the amount of pizza choices there actually were, but what is even cooler is that we can customize our own pizza. When our server arrived, he greeted us and then asked us for our drink order. He then asked if we were ready, but we weren’t since we were still trying to figure out what we were going to get. Props to the server for having patience with my boyfriend and me. When the server returned, we had our minds set on our appetizers. We ordered garlic nods with tomato sauce on the side; that was so good we gave it a 10/10. Then, we got two homeslice pepperoni pizzas and a Sicilian pepperoni pizza, which was something we had never tried before.  

After just a couple minutes of waiting, our server arrived with our food, and just by looking at it, we automatically knew that it was going to be good. We took our first bite and fell in love instantly; the pizza was so crunchy and well-cooked. Overall, this place is amazing, not only because of the service but also because of the food.  The prices are not bad, it’s very affordable, and the place itself is a perfect spot to go out with your loved ones.
