Fonda San Miguel was opened in 1975 near central Austin as a very cherishing and welcoming place. When I took the opportunity to go and review this place, I noticed how unique and extraordinary it was.

Fonda San Miguel has an amazing chef named Blanca Zesati. She came to the restaurant from Austin’s renowned Miraval Resort & Spa, where she spent eight years creating inventive menus for guests with dietary restrictions. That’s why I decided to go and take the opportunity to enjoy it! By the looks of it, I realized how truly artistic it was, which was the main factor that got my attention to try this place out. As I walked in with my company, I noticed how full it was and how fast and welcoming their service was.
We sat right away and were attended as soon as we took a seat with a cup of water, chips with salsa, and the menus. One thing about the menus was that they were very explicit and clean. We decided to order some non-alcoholic traditional margaritas in strawberry and mango flavors for $15 each. I will say they were very tasty and enjoyable, but they were a little overpriced for my liking. Afterward, we took the chance to order some Quesadillas with Pollo de Tinga, which came with 3 quesadillas and a side of sour cream for a total of $13.95. They were good, but I will mention that they were very basic for me. We also took the opportunity to order a Carne Asada La Tampiquena which came with 8 oz of beef, a side of guacamole with beans, an Enchilada Verde, and 6 tortillas for a total of $52.95. It was pretty good and tasteful except for the fact that the tortillas were very small and thin.
Lastly, we wanted to get a small dessert and decided on Flan de Almendra for a total of $12 which came with one piece of flan with a sprinkle of almonds and a strawberry. I would say it was very pleasant and a good way to end the visit. Overall, Fonda San Miguel was very authentic and an amusing experience that I recommend others to visit for any special occasion!
