We came across Hook and Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar located at 9070 Research Blvd, Ste 305, Austin, TX, after taking an interest in seafood boils. We decided to finally plan our visit and try the food to see if it’s a place we can recommend.

When walking into the restaurant, we were greeted by the host, and she walked us to our table. A few seconds after being sat down, our server came up to all of us and immediately asked us for our drink order. Then, she proceeded to ask if we still needed more time, which we did because it was our first time being at this restaurant. However, we were already amazed at how quick the service was as well as the patience our server had towards our table.

So just after a while of looking at the menu, all of us concluded what we wanted. We ended up going with a combo called “The Reel Catch,” which includes a choice of Snow Crab Legs (2 clusters) or Snow Crab Leg (1 cluster) plus 1 Lobster Tail, and then you can pick either: 1 lb Clams, 1 lb Shrimp, 1 lb New Zealand Mussels, 1 lb Black Mussels, or 1 lb Crawfish. We also made sure to get sides and decided on corn on the cob, sausage, and potatoes. We also couldn’t forget the sauce, so we went with cajun and picked spicy, but that is where we were a little disappointed.

We expected the spicy sea boil to actually be hot, but after getting the first bite, we realized it was more mild than spicy. Another thing that caught us off guard was that when we were more than halfway done with our drinks, our server brought us a refill without us asking for one. This might sound great, but it made us feel pressured to finish the first drinks we already had. Overall, this seafood boil was super good, and we recommend it for anyone who also wants to try a seafood boil. Coming to this place definitely gave us a good first impression, and best believe we will be back.
