Purr-fecto Cat Lounge: The Purrest Cat Café in Austin

March, 2024

Purr-fecto Cat Lounge is a new cat café located at 2300 South Lamar Boulevard, Unit 104, in the Zilker neighborhood area. They allow you to play with adorable cats, hang out, and order drinks.

To visit, you can book reservations and walk-ins are also allowed. They also only take cards instead of cash. People who are interested in adopting cats will need to fill out some applications beforehand. Purr-fecto Cat Lounge also partners up with rescue animal shelters.

When I arrived at the cat café building, I realized it was combined with other stores. When I walked in, I saw purple, yellow, and white cat-themed paintings. The employee told me my name since I booked it online and handed me a menu of their drinks. However, I didn’t order since sadly, they don’t take cash. When I entered another room, I saw a lot of cats ready to interact. Some didn’t take an interest in us and some were still asleep. There was plenty of furniture inside, such as cat trees, beds, and cat toys scattered everywhere. There was also merchandise from their cat café.

I sat down next to a sleepy cat and grabbed a small cat brush to brush it down. After that, I moved on to the next cat that was big and fluffy. His name was Brody and fortunately had already been adopted. He was so cute sleeping in a small white chair so I didn’t want to bother him, but I did pat him a little. Then, this next cat came up to me, started biting my shoes, and ran off climbing into a wall mounted cat shell. I moved again and sat down near 2 cat trees where one cat was sleeping inside and the other cat, a calico cat, was hiding under a cat shaped cat scratcher. When I looked at the calico cat, I was getting a vibe that it did not want to be pet by anyone so I stayed away from it and later I saw it hissing at another cat.

As I mentioned, In order to have this cat experience you have to book it online or walk-in. One employee told me that it is better to book online because wak-ins can be a bit crowded and you’re going to have to wait for a while, so that’s what I did. I went to their online website (purrfectocatlounge.com) and I booked it for 30 minutes which is $16.24 plus tax. If you want to experience more for 70 min, then it’s $32.48 plus tax. They also have special events like cat yoga where you can do yoga along with cats, paint with cats, or have a private event.

Not only that, you can also adopt the cats because every cat there needs a home and as I said before, they work alongside animal shelters. That is their mission and this would be the opportunity for cats to find their new forever homes. Their environment inside is good to relax and cats walk around curiously, meowing to discover their perfect match.

This is the one and only spot here in Austin where you are free to play with cats and hangout with friends. Purr-fecto Cat Lounge can become a new go-to spot for cat lovers, animal lovers, or those who have never had an animal café experience.
