Despite Disappointing Season End, Girls Basketball Players Keep Their Heads Up

It is unfortunate that we have to announce that the girls basketball season has come to an end. However, they did not go home empty handed. The Lady Cardinals ended up becoming 2024 TSCAAL Regional Champions. They were a single win away from competing for the state championship, but came up just a little short. 

Team Captain Genesis Robles states that playoff games were very intense, along with the practices in preparation for the playoffs. “By far, this is the best season I have ever played”, she said. She found great pride in being a part of the last four teams left in the league to compete for the championship. She highlighted the challenge of being the team captain and trying to prepare the team as a leader while trying to make sure she was also prepared and ready to go. 

Senior Kendall Martin also emphasized the pressure of playoff games due to the single-elimination format. .“Knowing every little mistake could cost you the game and that would be the end of my season.” She also feels this was by far the best season she has ever played in. “I gave it my all,” she said. She says her level of confidence increased heavily and she is proud of how far the team got.

Even though the team didn’t meet their final end goal, they grew as players on the court, and as people off the court  Overall, you could say this was a great season for the Lady Cardinals .
