Minimum Wage: The US Lags Behind its Peers

Picture a see-saw that goes it goes back and forth with prosperity and struggle and on one side is the unemployment rate that not only affects the jobless but everyone of us and the other side being the minimum wage in the U.S.A. So learning about other countries that have higher minimum wage is an opportunity you could take to learn about countries that will benefit if you plan on living outside of the U.S. Most people if they want to live comfortably have to get a second or even third job just to pay their bills. There’s also the fact about how hard it is to get a job especially if you’ve never had one before the unemployment rate is 3.7 but that seems small however its not that means around 6.1 million people are unemployed. 

1:Europe, Luxembourg’s minimum wage is 17.83 an hour for a full time job and if you’re under 18 it’s 9.71 an hour. Annually they make 42,482 which transfer over to 45,698 USD however Luxembourg is one of the more expensive countries.To get a job  in luxembourg will be difficult as many are skilled and you will be required to have your boss fill out an (ADEM)National Employment Administration 

2. In Europe, the Netherlands’ minimum wage for a full time job is $13.27 and under 21 is $6.64 for the minimum wage. Annually they make 47 euros which equates to $50,000 in USD. The Netherlands is considered to be pretty expensive in Europe. However you don’t need $100,000 to live there, you can live in the Netherlands with only $40,000 annually. To get a job in the Netherlands is difficult, however it is not impossible because there are plenty of Dutch companies who will hire internationals.

3. In New Zealand, the minimum wage is $22.70 per hour for adults but they also have a starting wage which is 18.52. New Zealand is one of the most expensive countries in the world however it is lower than the U.S. You only need 3-4k to live comfortably in New Zealand and the cost of living is 800-1k. To get a Job in New Zealand as a foreigner it is quite easy as they have a high employment rate of 93%.

4. Australia is the 10th-most expensive place to live; their minimum wage if you’re an adult is $38.04 an hour and if you work part time it’s $34.65. The average salary in Australia is 68,900 and 35.30.The cost of living in Australia is $1,127. Finding a job in Australia is very hard to get a job and that includes citizens but it’s a lot more difficult for foreigners because you’re competing with the locals.

5. In Europe, Germany minimum wage is $12 per hour and if your working in part time its $12.41. The average Salary is 54,030. The cost of living is said to be about 35% percent cheaper than the USA. Germany’s cost of living is 2,507k with the average salary is $30,084. Most workers prefer locals over foreigners however its not too difficult to get a job, its recommended that you start off looking into jobs with talent shortages.
