November 2024
By Mariana Contreras, Staff Reporter
On November 13, about 45 students of the class of 2025 gathered in the KIPP Austin Collegiate soccer field to watch the sunrise.
Senior Sunrise is a school tradition, in which senior students wake up early in the morning and head to school to watch the sunrise to celebrate the beginning of the end of their last year of high school. Students started arriving at school at 6:00 a.m. and were able to purchase donuts and coffee. Class president Everardo Tovar and his committee from the Senior Class was in charge of planning the event.
As a student of the class of 2025, I wanted to know the seniors’ opinion on their experience. Here were some of their responses:
How was your Senior Sunrise experience?
Abril Tinoco: My experience during senior sunrise was very fun, I got to hang out with my friends and take pictures while eating breakfast which made this experience memorable.
Brisa Gomez: I enjoyed the senior sunrise. Although our school didn’t have the best view of the sunrise it definitely all depends on the vibe. The senior class was able to create a cozy environment and brought back memories with the colorful parachute.
Lizbet Garcia: I had a good experience during senior sunrise because I got to spend time with my friends which made this a memorable memory.
What would have you done differently if you could?
Roxana Cobos: I feel like I would have loved to have had this earlier in the year since it’s an event that is celebrated almost as soon as students come back or something along the lines of that. Unfortunately due to some scheduling issues it had to be pushed back.
Rikayla Duval: Something I would have done differently was the activities that we could have interacted with. We only had a parachute, muddy volleyballs, and one picture frame, which was a bit boring.
Upcoming seniors, make sure to be going to every event when is your year because these memories are once in a lifetime!
