30 years ago in Hidalgo Mexico, they would cut up their own corn and serve to the nearby communities with different ingredients and homemade sauces. Now they have expanded here in Texas making them “Los Expertos en Elotes”.
Elotes Fanny is an Authentic Mexican Street Corn place that not only serves corn but many other Mexican antojitos. They stated that the locals and neighboring towns were quite interested in their prepared elotes that even a large number of people traveled from various cities just to get a taste. They continue the tradition alive with locations here in Texas. As their website says, “Our prepared corn stands out from the others because of its great flavor, but above all because of the process in which we prepare our corn. Our preparation process has several stages, but it all starts with our homemade sauces”. Elotes Fanny has also been recognized from The CW-33 Channel and The Dallas Morning News because of their authentic prepared elotes. Some of their other options other than their elotes are their specialty slushies, banana splits, chamoyadas, mangonadas, piña loca, fresas con crema and many more choices to choose from.
There are seven locations where Elotes Fanny is located here in Texas. The one I visited was a food truck located on Cameron Road. The food truck was colored green with the menu stuck on the side of the truck for clients to get a better look at. The menu was very affordable depending on what type of food you would like. Prices ranged from $3 to $15 . There were plenty of options to choose from and different types of foods from sweets to spice depending on your taste buds. I decided to order an elote with a cup of fresas con crema as well. To start off, the elote tasted good especially when you add other types of saucing on it. It was a savory and seasoned taste that made the elote stand out. The fresas con crema were also likable but I wouldn’t say it was amazing. You can probably get the same quality and taste if it’s homemade or from a different place personally.
So do they really deserve the “Best Elotes in Texas” title? The elotes were good with all the different types of saucing but I personally don’t think they were the best. There’s definitely other places that give the same type of taste and maybe even better. Overall the food tasted very good though, all with their own flavors. I liked that there were more options other than just their elotes. This place is great for all types of taste buds: sweet, spicy, sour.
