HOSA Members Attend McNeil High School Conference

On a sunny and hot day on October 26 at McNeil High School, the members of KAC’s chapter of the Health Occupations Students Association (HOSA) members began to see the number of students that interested in health sciences as a career.

As we got into the building, they served us with good food that they gave us options, for example for breakfast they gave us tacos of bacon and eggs, or having beef in your taco. A side with that they would give you a yogurt of your choice and an orange to eat. Once we ate, conference organizers instructed everyone to head to the theaters for introductions and to learn expectations on the different types of stations we could access go with the color of bracelet we wanted to receive.

After these instructions, they set us off by allowing us to find our way to the class that represents the color of our bracelets and with that they even gave us the schedule since each person has a different bracelet. There were different classes that include CERT Skill/ Materials, EMT, Dental, Psychologist, Ambulance, etc, and you could go to whatever class you preferred, but it also had to include the type of competition you were going to work with. This was a way of separating and balancing the number of students participating. Doing so, when it comes to lunch they gave us great food that had many options and even got separate food for the vegan people.

The experience of this HOSA Conference was incredible because there were some people that we were able to communicate and interact with. Once, we were already done we had the transition to go back to the theater and meet up with our group members so, that the President, Vice President and the rest of their crew could give us a close down on what we have experience through that day.

There were so many memories that each of us made that were even shared with the crew and in social media. We are so excited that we were able to participate in this conference and to go compete during the following days of competition with the other students, including ourselves.
