Boys Basketball Aims for a Championship

December 2024

As the KAC Boys Basketball team begins their season, they plan to be the best and play to their best abilities so that they are able to achieve excellence and win state championships.

“By the end of the season we want to win the championship,” said Coach Anthony Martin. “We want to be the best charter school team in the state.”

To reach that goal, the team will have to learn lessons from a challenging start. While the team has had promising results in tournaments, they have lost several games since then, including losses to Austin Waldorf (26-41) and Founders Classical Academy (43-56). And the hardest game of the season so far, according to Martin, came in October, when the team lost to Idea Montopolis, 34-52.

Martin hopes the challenging start will benefit the team when district play starts. “Hopefully it will make us better,” he said. “We actually have gotten better over the season. We had a tournament where we got second, and another tournament shortly after where we got first, so we’re improving and my expectation is that we win.”

Martin says the boys entered the new season feeling confident and ready to win as many games as they can. And to keep them motivated throughout their long journey filled with obstacles and challenges, he plans to keep reminding them of their ultimate goal: a state championship.
