Head Soccer Coach Eddie Lett has been an integral part of KAC’s athletic and academic programs since 2016, and he is distinguished by his leadership of the Boys Varsity Soccer Team, which has achieved consecutive state championships under his guidance. Additionally, he has had a profound impact as an AP Human Geography teacher, cultivating a culture of excellence among students in athletics and academics. Since arriving at KAC, Coach Lett has consistently demonstrated his dedication as a coach and educator. His successful coaching tenure has established the soccer team as a formidable competitor, reinforcing his esteemed reputation within sports and educational communities.
Building One Team and Family
As the new season approaches, the KAC Boys Varsity Team is eager to continue building upon their established legacy, emphasizing teamwork and individual skills. Senior players reflect on their experiences with the team, expressing their appreciation for the invaluable lessons imparted by Coach Lett as they prepare for their futures beyond high school. Colleagues, such as Coach Detosha Hurst, commend his coaching methodology: “He has a great approach to coaching. Growth comes from seeking advice from fellow coaches, and I frequently consult him for insights.” Captain Kevin Leon remarks, “His practice sessions prioritize every position, allowing us to cultivate a cohesive team dynamic.”
Impact on Athletics
Coach Avila, who leads the Junior Varsity team, has a different perspective on Lett’s most outstanding achievement. He believes that Lett’s most significant accomplishment is his ability to instill strong character in the players. Avila and Lett have worked together to promote morale and motivation among the soccer team. Over the years, their efforts have improved the players’ character, resulting in the development of outstanding student-athletes. Graduated from Midwestern University, Lett believes education is a top priority. Moreover, Coach Lett strongly emphasizes the academic achievements of his players, urging them to excel in their studies. Co-Captain Joset Gomez notes, “He consistently encourages us to attend class, engage actively, and strive for academic excellence. He challenges us to submit our assignments promptly and to pursue high academic standards, not merely aiming for passing grades but striving for 90s or even 100s.”
Excellence In Education
In the broader community, fellow educators, including AP World History teacher Timothy Forsyth, acknowledge his influence. Forsyth describes him as a dedicated and engaging instructor. He offers some notable advice: “Keep striving for greatness. He’s doing a great job. If he ever doubted himself, he shouldn’t because he is exceptional at teaching and coaching.” Coach Lett’s enthusiasm and dedication foster a positive and inspiring environment within the school, benefiting his peers and students. Massey stated, “He always just shows up as a supportive team member, coworker, geography teacher, and all of those things.” Additionally, the gymnasium proudly displays team achievements with banners, while KAC soccer flags enhance the classrooms, reflecting the pride and success of the soccer program.
A Lasting Impact on KAC
Coach Lett’s dual role as a renowned soccer coach and a committed educator epitomizes KAC’s dedication to excellence in athletics and academics. Many are proud of his consecutive State Championship status, as Joset quoted: “When we won State, we all gathered together and splashed water on him. We connected, and we were all like a team and family.” His remarkable ability to inspire and motivate extends beyond the soccer field, significantly shaping the experiences of his players and influencing his colleagues. With a strong legacy already established, it is evident that Coach Lett will continue to have a lasting impact on the KAC community for many years to come.
