Sonny Angels went from being a small collectible to a huge trend starting in the mid-2000s. These cute little figures with unique designs quickly became a must-have for fans everywhere. What started as a fun hobby has now turned into a full-blown craze, with people constantly hunting for rare versions!
What are Sonny Angels?
Sonny Angels are small collectible dolls that originated in Japan in 2004, made to bring joy, companionship and surprise to consumers’ everyday life. These small collectible figures quickly gained popularity for their wide variety of themed series, and concepts, allowing them to gain a global fanbase, mostly of young adults.
Sold in “blind boxes” comes the element of surprise and excitement when buyers wonder what figure they got. This thrill of anticipation only continues to drive the thrill of collecting more and more figures by the theme. Ranging from animal to pop culture references, their unique touch is what allows buyers to start collecting and complete the series.
The Impact Of Social Media
In the last year, Sonny Angels were a TikTok sensation, especially with their “Hippers” collection. The “Hippers” collection are similar to the small collectible figures, only their hips are a type of attachment. Which is where many attach the figures on top of their phones, car rearview mirrors, etc. Overall many users on the app shared their experience when opening and revealing what Sonny Angel they got. Soon enough, TikTok influencers and collectors began to showcase their finds, leading these viral videos to increase the popularity of these collectibles to a whole different level. Due to this, many Sonny angels are hard to find in stores for their original price of $10 dollars.
