As we enter a new year, there are new opportunities for the girls’ soccer team to keep improving and growing as a team. As spring season approaches, the soccer team has its schedule on when and where they’re going to be playing. During the year, they practiced almost every day to be prepared for their upcoming games and to be capable of being their best versions of themselves.
As of recently they have played in 12 games, won 7, lost 4, and a draw in one but in the district, they’re undefeated. In their district they have won 2 games and have scored 24 goals, giving you an idea of their standings. But if you’re more curious about their stats or any games they’ve recently played you can go to MaxPreps and search up Kipp Austin Collegiate and you would be able to see all the sports standings of KAC.
Here is more of an insight into the girl’s soccer team and how they can face challenges yet to overcome them, Coach Avila was able to express some difficulties that arise, “Our practice facility, our soccer field is in very poor condition… our budget is being cut, every year I’ve been here the budget gets cut and is more and more difficult to raise funds.”
Yet through all of this, Coach Avila said, “We look at these adversities as challenges that only make us better.”
“Through our unity, through our sense of family, through our accomplishments, we care about each other and find a way,” he continued.
Avila was also able to express the things that he and his team look forward to such as defending their state championship and “continuing to impact our community positively through soccer.”
Avila also said he is excited for the opportunity this season “showcase this senior class.”
“They have a lot of great talent and a lot of return starters from our championship last year,” he said.
Here are some exciting things that Coach Avila expresses to expect this season from the Lady Cardinals: “Expect to see a championship contending team, expect to see Division One athletes on display, expect to see leaders in our community leading this group not just on the field but in the classrooms, in the real world. This team is very united, very driven, and apart from winning games, I see a lot of success in their life as well.”
