KIPP Austin Collegiate’s boys soccer team opened their season with an impressive 5-1 win against St. Michael’s High School on December 2nd at 3:30 p.m., showing skill, teamwork, and determination from start to finish.

The game started with the team warming up 20 minutes before the girls’ game ended, making sure they were ready to play at full intensity. From the first whistle, KIPP Austin demonstrated strong communication and teamwork on the field. Jonathan Osoria was a standout player, scoring two goals and helping drive the offense. Anthony Garcia and Manuel Trejo also contributed with one goal each, adding to the team’s strong performance.

Even with an injury, Erick showed resilience and determination. After being kicked on his already injured foot, he continued to play well, supporting his teammates and contributing to the overall effort. On the defensive side, goalkeeper Isaiah Palma made several key saves that kept St. Michael’s from narrowing the score, proving to be a reliable last line of defense.

Coach Lett praised the players’ effort and teamwork but also offered some constructive criticism. “The boys worked hard, stayed focused, and supported each other the entire game. Their preparation really showed, but we still need to work on communication in the midfield and finishing our chances more efficiently.”

This first win of the season is an encouraging start for KIPP Austin’s boys soccer team. With a combination of talent, determination, and teamwork, the players are setting a high standard for the rest of the season. All four of the team captains agreed and said, “We’re proud of how we played today, but we know we have a lot more to improve on. Every game is a chance to get better and show what we can do.”

As the season continues, the team is focused on building on this strong start, learning from each game, and continuing to work together to achieve success on the field. With their energy and dedication, KIPP Austin Collegiate’s boys soccer team is sure to be a team to watch this year.
