The KAC varsity girls basketball team honored its seniors on January 16, 2026 during the team’s final home game of the season against IDEA Pflugerville.
Senior night is held to honor the team’s graduating players giving families, teammates, and supporters an opportunity to recognize the seniors commitment and achievements throughout the season. Senior night is memorable for seniors because it marks the final home game of their high school basketball milestone. It gives players a chance to reflect on their time and be recognized for their dedication in front of teammates, family, and supporters.
The Lady Cardinals started the game strong, Kacey Alvarado opened the scoring with a two-pointer taking an early 6-2 lead in the first quarter and extending it to 12-2 by halftime. The team continued to dominate in the third quarter with a 20-6 lead, and later Alvarado made a three-pointer near the end of the fourth quarter closing out the game with an impressive 43-14 victory.

Team captain Jacky Reyes said her proudest moment of the season came during the team’s tournament performance. “It highlighted how far we had come and how much we learned during preseason…even in difficult moments we continued to push forward and support each other, overall it was a great experience, and I am proud of the perseverance and dedication our team showed the entire season.” Reyes said “The energy in the gym was amazing, and fed off each other’s energy throughout the game. Having my family there to support me meant a lot, and the support from my teammates and everyone in attendance made it a special and memorable night.”
Coach Carrizales said his proudest moment of the season takes place during senior night, as he watches all the athletes enjoy the moment with their teammates and loved ones. Carrizales said “Seeing their parents, family, friends, and teachers fills it with joy and makes me happy because they deserve a moment like that. Wins are great, but seeing them grow as people is more rewarding.” Carrizales also credited the team’s unity, noting that Aimee Santiago helped organize decorations and gifts for the seniors while everyone listened, contributed, and came together as a team.
The Lady Cardinals closed out senior night with a strong win, marking a meaningful end to their home season and celebrating their dedication, growth, and unity shown by the team throughout the year. Team captain Abigail Perez said “The proudest moment of the season didn’t happen on the court. It was watching my team grow close, laughing together while still keeping their competitiveness. I’m proud of every single one of them.” Perez was asked how she felt about senior night and answered with “It feels surreal that it was my final home game. This team will always hold a place in my heart.”
