Ruben Perez is a fun, loveable, intelligent teacher that gets along with everyone. He can be serious when he needs to be, helping kids with their assignments when they are stuck and confused or guiding the teams he coaches to strive for success to be the best version of themselves.
The reason why Mr.Perez is interested in his job is that Brissa stated that “maybe because he took inspiration from a teacher, and he just likes helping people understand math, and he loves math”. Ms. Frias also stated, “ maybe because he loves math or because he likes to teach robotics as well.” And even Perez himself stated, “ I am interested in teaching because I want to help students like me. I grew up in a similar environment and did not receive the best education, but there were people who pushed me to college. That was also an inspiration for me to become a teacher.”
Mr. Perez loves teaching math and currently instructs AP Calculus AB and BC. In addition, he is involved with the Math Honor Society and teaches the robotics team called Luna, where he encourages creativity and teamwork. He also coaches the boys volleyball team, integrating academics with athletics to enhance student development.
Mr. Perez’s classes can be challenging, as it requires a strong understanding of various complex topics. Some students may struggle with the material at first, but Perez provides support to help them succeed in his class. For others, the concepts may come more easily to them, making the learning experience enjoyable. Overall, he aims to create a balance between challenge and support in his classroom. As Brissa also stated, “Perez’s class is not hard; he helps people understand the topic”.
Mr. Perez is known for his effective teaching style. He has a talent for making complex and rigorous topics understandable, often using clear explanations and real-world examples to make lessons engaging. Many students find that his methods resonate well with them, making it easier to learn each concept of what he teaches. However, some students may find his approach more challenging, especially if they have different learning styles or need additional support. Perez is always open to feedback and willing to offer extra help to ensure that everyone can succeed. While his teaching is effective for many, he remains aware of the diverse needs in his classroom. As Brissa stated, “Yeah, he does teach very well, he explains it, and not just that, he helps us understand”.
For the most part, he is a chill guy and also steals your food so please don’t leave your food unattended when you are around him, you can blink and the food will be gone in a second, just watch out.
