As the love season comes into play, partners come together to celebrate their love and spend this lovely holiday together. Even though Valentine’s Day is mainly focused on romantic relationships, it isn’t just for couples. It’s about feeling extra loved and appreciated by your partner, parents, and most specifically FRIENDS.
Although there are traditions for partners on Valentine’s Day, there is a new tradition we celebrate dedicated to women celebrating their friendship with their lady friends called Galentines. As friends get to know more about each other, they learn to love and grow their friendship. And on this day they celebrate memories of friendship, a bond that is goodwill. A girl’s bond with her friends unites them for the better realizing they are stronger together than apart. For as long as I can remember, girls have supported girls through emotional support, makeup tips, letting each other borrow clothes, and having a girl’s night. Not only do we support each other, we praise each other to be a better version of ourselves. That kind of friendship is not only rare but it’s also precious to find in our lifetime. Through Galentines, we celebrate friendship and reminisce about our most cherished moments together, going back to the funny, sad, loved, and difficult times that were worth remembering again.
Now Galentines is a day to go down memory lane with our close friends but it isn’t the only thing that makes that day special. A tradition with Galentines is that each girl a part of the celebration gets to create a food board of their favorite food/snack. For example, some might bring a board full of chocolate candy, sweets, or even their favorite fast food. A food board is meant to represent you when you walk into that door so that others can enjoy it as well. It also gives girls the chance to talk about each other boards and gives a speculation of who’s bringing what to the party.
