As the month of love and friendship approaches, we want to show our love and appreciation for a significant other, family, or friends by gifting them something to make them feel loved and special. With that, you might start stressing out over ideas, but here at The Cardinal Post, we can help you out!!
We are more than lucky to have local girls who own their own businesses and can help you out on Valentine’s Day. I asked each and every one of them, “Why did they start their own business?”

My mom also plays a big part in it because she has her own business in making gelatinas, but also I’ve always just really liked expressing my creativity & being on my feet,” she said. In a quick interview, She told us about her love for crocheting and desire to start a business stating, “I’ve been crocheting since the end of July 2023. I started my business at the beginning of August to be able to share my creativity with my community. I want to have a career in business, therefore I started my own small business to actually experience what it is to manage a business and what goes on behind the scenes.” For more information about Fatima’s business and her work, you can always contact her on her Instagram page @crochet_.critters.
Crochetbyveroo
10th grader, Veronica Hernandez is another small business owner and creator who also does crochet. “I’ve been crocheting since 2019, and then I stopped. Then, in February of 2023, I started crocheting again because I always found it fun. I started selling crochet flowers in September of 2023. The only reason I started my business was because my family and friends thought it was cute and people would like it.” So if you’re looking for a soft, sweet, and never-dying bouquet, go ahead and contact Veronica on Instagram at @crochetbyveroo.
